The Plague of Flies
The Lord sends swarms of flies upon Egypt, filling the houses of Pharaoh and his people, while the land of Goshen is set apart and spared (Exodus 8). A gouache by the French painter James Tissot.

French painter who, after a vision experience in 1885, devoted the rest of his career to an extensive illustrated New Testament based on travel through the Holy Land. His watercolors are now held at the Brooklyn Museum.
