What Does 1 Peter 1:21 Mean?
Peter traces the line of faith: it is through Christ that his readers come to trust God at all. And the God they trust is the One who raised Jesus and crowned him with glory.
The resurrection is offered here as the foundation of confidence. Because God brought Jesus up from the dead and exalted him, the believer's faith and hope have somewhere solid to rest. Peter is careful to aim that hope at God himself, not at circumstances. The empty tomb is the proof that the God they hope in can be trusted with everything.
