What Does 1 Peter 1:9 Mean?
Peter names the destination toward which all this faith and joy are moving. Faith is not aimless; it has an end, a goal it is even now reaching.
That goal is the salvation of the soul, the whole person made safe and whole in God. Already the believers are receiving it, tasting now what will be complete at Christ's appearing. The unseen love and the inexpressible joy of the previous verses are not detours; they are faith carrying its bearer steadily home.
