What Does 1 Peter 2:7 Mean?
Peter draws the dividing line that the cornerstone always draws. To those who believe, Christ is precious, the worth of their whole lives. To those who refuse, he is the stone they cast aside.
Yet the rejected stone became the head of the corner; the builders' verdict did not stand. What people discard, God exalts to the highest place. The same Christ is honor to some and obstacle to others, and the difference lies in faith. Peter quietly assures his readers that their love for Christ aligns them with God's own valuation, not the world's.
