What Does 1 Timothy 4:14 Mean?
Timothy had received a spiritual gift, marked out by prophetic words and confirmed when the elders laid their hands on him. Paul urges him not to let it lie idle.
Gifts can be neglected and grow faint through disuse. Paul calls Timothy to stir his gift into action, remembering the solemn moment it was recognized. What God has given for service is meant to be used, not buried.
