The false teachers forbid marriage and certain foods, which God made to be received with thanksgiving.

What Does 1 Timothy 4:3 Mean?

The false teaching showed itself in harsh rules: bans on marriage and on certain foods, as though these good gifts were impure.

But God created marriage and food to be received with thanks by those who know the truth. Paul defends the goodness of God's creation against teachers who would treat it as evil. What the Maker calls good is not ours to despise.
