What Does 2 Thessalonians 1:11 Mean?
In light of the glory just described, Paul turns the readers' attention to prayer. He prays continually that God would "count you worthy of this calling," not that they would qualify by their own strength, but that God Himself would make them fit for the destiny He has called them to. The same God who calls is the one who equips.
Paul asks that God would "fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness" and complete "the work of faith with power." Every good desire God plants, and every act that faith produces, needs God's power to bring it to fruition. This is a model for how to pray for one another: not merely that people would try harder, but that God would carry His good work in them all the way to completion. Worthiness, goodness, and faithful action are all things Paul asks God to supply.
