Paul mentions Alexander the coppersmith who harmed him greatly, leaving his judgment to the Lord.

What Does 2 Timothy 4:14 Mean?

Paul names a specific opponent: Alexander the coppersmith, who did him much harm. Rather than seeking personal revenge, Paul entrusts the matter to God, saying the Lord will repay him according to his works.

Notice how Paul handles a real injury. He does not nurse vengeance or take justice into his own hands; he leaves it with God, the righteous Judge. This echoes the larger biblical pattern of releasing wrongs to the One who judges rightly. For the reader, this is a model for dealing with those who harm us. We are not called to retaliate but to entrust the matter to God, who sees all and judges justly. There is freedom in this, the freedom of laying down the heavy burden of revenge and trusting that God will deal rightly with every wrong in His own time and way.
