God promises to raise His people from the places they were sold and to turn the judgment back on those who sold them.

What Does Joel 3:7 Mean?

God answers the trafficking with a promise of reversal. Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them. The scattered and enslaved will be gathered again, drawn back from the far places where they were sold. And the recompense the sellers intended is turned upon their own heads. The exile they imposed becomes their own judgment.

This is the steady rhythm of God's justice throughout the chapter: what was done to His people is undone, and what was meant for harm rebounds on the doer. The word raise carries a note of restoration and even resurrection hope, God lifting His own out of the pit others dug for them. For every reader who has been wronged or carried far from home, this verse breathes assurance. The God who sees where His people have been taken is mighty to bring them back, and no captivity is beyond the reach of His redeeming hand.
