The faithful priest is described as one who spoke truth, lived uprightly, walked with God, and turned many people away from sin.

What Does Malachi 2:6 Mean?

The portrait of the ideal priest grows fuller. His mouth held 'the law of truth' and no falsehood stained his lips; he walked with God in peace and uprightness; and through that life of integrity he 'turned many away from iniquity.' Sound teaching, a holy life, and fruitful influence all flowed together. What he was in private shaped what he accomplished in public.

This is one of Scripture's loveliest descriptions of a faithful servant of God. Notice how teaching truth and living truth are inseparable, and how a life of integrity becomes a means of turning others from sin. Words alone do not move people; a life that matches the words does. The phrase 'walked with me' recalls the closest fellowship a person can have with God. Every believer is called to this kind of integrity, where what we say and how we live point others toward God. Such lives become quiet instruments of rescue in a wandering world.
