What Does Micah 2:3 Mean?
The Lord answers their scheming with a sober irony. They devised evil; now He devises against them, a calamity laid on their necks like a yoke they cannot escape. The proud who walked haughtily will no longer stride so tall.
Judgment here fits the crime with exact justice. Those who used their power to oppress will themselves be brought low. The God who measures all things will not let the schemer prosper forever. Yet even this devised discipline is meant to humble, not merely to crush, for a bowed neck may yet learn to bear the Lord's gentle yoke instead.
