Because of the leaders' sin, Zion will be plowed like a field and the temple mount left a wooded ruin.

What Does Micah 3:12 Mean?

The chapter ends with the gravest word. Because of the leaders, Zion will be plowed like a farmer's field, Jerusalem reduced to rubble, and the temple mount left as overgrown as a forest height. The holy city itself is not exempt.

This warning was remembered a century later, when it helped spare a later prophet's life, proof that hard truth, faithfully spoken, can bear fruit long after. No place is too sacred to escape God's justice when it is filled with injustice. Yet the very fact that God warns means He still seeks repentance, for He would rather His people return than His city fall.
