In contrast to the silenced false prophets, Micah declares he is filled with the Spirit, justice, and might to speak God's truth.

What Does Micah 3:8 Mean?

Against the backdrop of failed prophets, Micah stands and testifies to the source of his own message. He is full of power by the Spirit of the Lord, full of justice and might, and his task is plain: to declare to Jacob its transgression and to Israel its sin.

The true prophet's strength is not his own; it is the Spirit of the Lord that fills him. That power is given for a hard purpose, to name sin honestly so the people may turn. Faithfulness sometimes means speaking the very words others refuse to hear, and the courage to do so is itself a gift from God, not a product of human bravado.

In the Original Language

ruach (רוּחַ), 'spirit' -- the breath or wind of God, His power that fills and empowers His servant.
