Paul prays that the sharing of Philemon's faith would prove powerful as he comes to recognize every good thing Christ works in him.

What Does Philemon 1:6 Mean?

Here Paul states the content of his prayer for Philemon. The verse is dense, but its heart is clear: he longs for Philemon's faith, when shared and put into action, to become effective and fruitful. This happens as one grows in recognizing the good that Christ produces in His people.

Faith was never meant to stay private; it becomes powerful when it moves into generous action toward others. Paul is quietly preparing the ground, for the great good he hopes Philemon will acknowledge and do concerns Onesimus. The verse invites every reader to see that knowing Christ leads outward, into concrete acts of love that make faith visible and effectual in the world.

In the Original Language
