What Does Philippians 2:24 Mean?
Beyond sending Timothy, Paul holds a personal hope. He trusts in the Lord that he himself will also come to the Philippians before long.
His confidence rests not in the courts or in his own prospects but in the Lord, in whom he repeatedly places his trust throughout these plans. Paul longs to see the Philippians face to face, and he believes God may grant it. Notice how often the phrase in the Lord recurs in this passage; every hope and plan is framed by his confidence in Christ. This is faith at work in ordinary expectation, daring to hope for good while leaving the outcome in God's hands. Paul's anticipated visit would bring joy to them both, and he looks toward it with quiet, God-anchored confidence.
