Paul breaks into praise, ascribing glory to God the Father forever.

What Does Philippians 4:20 Mean?

Overflowing with the thought of God's riches and faithfulness, Paul bursts into praise. To God, who is our Father, be glory forever and ever, he declares, sealing it with Amen.

Having spoken of God's lavish supply, Paul cannot help but turn to worship. The mention of God's goodness naturally rises into praise, and Paul ascribes to him glory without end. He calls God our Father, a name of intimacy and belonging, reminding the Philippians that the infinitely glorious God is also their loving Father. The Amen is a wholehearted yes, affirming all he has said. This is the fitting response to grace: not only gratitude but adoration. Paul's heart, contemplating the riches and care of God, can do nothing but glorify him, and he invites the Philippians to join their Amen to his.
