Ruth returns to Naomi and recounts everything Boaz had done for her.

What Does Ruth 3:16 Mean?

Ruth comes home, and Naomi, perhaps still in the dim light or eager for news, asks, Who art thou, my daughter? The question may mean, how did it go, what is your standing now? In answer Ruth tells her all that Boaz had done, recounting his blessing, his promise, and his generosity. The two women share the night's events together, as they have shared everything.

There is warmth in this homecoming, the faithful daughter-in-law returning to the one who waited and longed for her good. Ruth holds nothing back; she tells Naomi everything, and together they receive the unfolding mercy of God. The bond between them, forged in grief, now bears the fruit of shared hope. It is a tender picture of how God's blessings are meant to be carried home and shared with those we love. Naomi sought rest for Ruth; now Ruth brings back word that rest is surely coming. The story they began together in sorrow is moving, together, toward joy.
