Redeemer by the Sea Lutheran Church

About this church

Redeemer by the Sea Lutheran Church gives Carlsbad visitors two Sunday styles. Traditional worship begins at 8:30 a.m. with historic liturgy, vestments, hymns, and organ; a less formal 10:15 service is led by a full praise band. The LCMS congregation invites guests to come as they are and publishes recordings and orders of worship for both services. Designated first-time parking sits across from the main entrance, and volunteers are available to answer questions. Coffee and conversation continue on the patio after church.

Children in pre-K through fifth grade check in electronically before the 10:15 service, begin worship with their families, and then leave for a Bible lesson in KidZone. Teachers are trained and background checked, and the church uses a secure check-in and checkout process. Middle- and high-school students meet on the first and third Sundays, leaving after the Lord's Supper for age-specific fellowship and faith formation. This pairing of two musical traditions, careful arrival guidance, and structured family security makes Redeemer unusually transparent for a first visit. The online archive can help guests decide which service style best fits them.
