Mesa Verde United Methodist Church

About this church

Mesa Verde United Methodist Church is a reconciling Protestant congregation in Costa Mesa, California, emphasizing compassion, contemplation, inclusion, and service over rigid dogma. The church explicitly welcomes LGBTQIA+ people and others who have felt excluded from congregations. Children join the opening portion of worship and a Time with Children, then may continue in the sanctuary or attend Sunday School built around Bible stories, music, crafts, games, and questions. Adults can participate through United Women in Faith, the chancel choir, handbells, outreach, and one-to-one care from trained Stephen Ministers. Local mission includes a hospitality kitchen, school-supply support, and an ongoing food drive for Share Ourselves.

Sunday worship begins at 9:00 a.m. at 1701 Baker Street. Children’s programming follows the Time with Children during that service, and the chancel choir sings most Sundays across music from hymns and sacred classics to contemporary pieces. Handbells contribute approximately monthly. Visitors can expect an inclusive United Methodist setting where questions and spiritual curiosity are encouraged, children may choose between worship and class, and service to Costa Mesa is visible in congregational life. People facing grief, divorce, health problems, job loss, loneliness, or other transitions may also request confidential Christian care through the Stephen Ministry. Seasonal concerts and outreach events appear on the calendar.
