The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Madera

About this church

Madera, California's meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is located at 2112 Sunset Ave, about 15 miles from the nearest other meetinghouse in Chowchilla. Accessible parking, an accessible entrance, an accessible restroom and accessible seating are all built into the property.

Three congregations share the schedule: the Madera 2nd Ward at 9 a.m., the Spanish-speaking Madera 3rd Ward at 10:30 a.m., and the Madera 1st Ward at 12 p.m. The hour includes hymns, prayers, the sacrament of bread and water, and talks by congregation members, and each is followed by a second hour of classes that includes Primary. No fee is charged at the door, and no collection plate is ever brought around. A Spanish-language meeting is available mid-morning for visitors who prefer it. Dress ranges from casual to formal, and newcomers are welcome either way. As schedules are set at the local level and can change, calling ahead of a first visit is a reasonable step.
