First Baptist Church of Pittsburg

About this church

First Baptist Church of Pittsburg gathers for worship and livestream Sunday at 10 a.m. Children's Church for ages four through fifth grade meets during the service on every Sunday except the second Sunday of the month. Wednesday prayer begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by Bible study at noon and another study at 7 p.m. The official site identifies 224 Linda Vista Avenue as the current address, correcting the older Odessa Avenue directory record. Guests can register ahead so someone is ready to meet them at the door.

The congregation describes itself as a self-governed, Bible-centered Baptist church committed to worship, teaching, discipleship, outreach, and missions. Sunday combines praise, prayer, preaching, monthly Communion on the first Sunday, and an intercessory team available to pray with people during and after worship. Ministries span children, youth, adults over sixty-two, fine arts, hospitality, social support, and community service. A food pantry operates Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., while fine-arts ministry uses music, dance, drama, and visual art in worship and gospel communication. On second Sundays, plan for children to stay with the full congregation because Children's Church takes that week off.
