Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament

About this church

The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament is the historic seat of the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento and a multilingual parish in the center of the city. Dedicated in 1889, the Italian Renaissance landmark was modeled on Paris’s Église de la Trinité and remains both a working parish and a destination for visitors interested in sacred art and local history. English, Spanish, and Chinese liturgies reflect a congregation serving well beyond downtown.

Sunday Mass is celebrated in English at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., in Spanish at noon and 6:00 p.m., and in Chinese at 2:00 p.m. There is no Saturday Vigil Mass. Weekday Mass begins Monday through Friday at 12:10 p.m. Adoration is offered Wednesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00. Downtown arena and convention events can affect traffic and parking, so the visitor page recommends checking the city’s event and parking information before Mass. The Cathedral Choir leads the 10:00 Sunday Eucharist in season and rehearses Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. A Brown Bag Lunch ministry distributes food and necessities to unhoused and low-income neighbors Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.
