Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

About this church

Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Roman Catholic parish and school community in San Leandro celebrating its seventy-fifth anniversary in 2026. Daily Mass is Monday through Saturday at 8:30 a.m. A 4:30 p.m. Saturday Vigil precedes Sunday liturgies at 8, 10, and noon; the 10 a.m. Mass streams on Facebook. Reconciliation is available Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. or by appointment. Eucharistic Adoration meets Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m.; a Rosary and rotating daily devotion follow the morning Mass.

Children ages four through twelve may leave the 10 a.m. Family Mass after a blessing for an age-appropriate Gospel lesson, returning after the Creed for the Offertory and Liturgy of the Eucharist. The parish's current two-year Confirmation program welcomes students beginning in grades eight through eleven, with sessions Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon followed by noon Mass. More than forty active ministries include liturgical service, faith formation, Saint Vincent de Paul, a Brown Bag Project, Lasagna Love, pastoral care, youth sports, cultural devotions, and senior learning. Visitor information is silent on parking and wheelchair routes, listening devices, usual attire, Mass duration, nursery and check-in arrangements, non-Catholic Communion guidance, and volunteer screening.
