Congregational Church of Soquel

About this church

Congregational Church of Soquel gathers for Sunday worship at 10 a.m., with an online option. Services create space for silent meditation and collective prayer, and special Sundays can connect faith with ecology and other community concerns. The church describes itself as a gathered people seeking to walk in Jesus' way of love through worship, service, learning, friendship, compassion, and local involvement. Its phrase faith for our time, our families, our community, and our earth captures the congregation's blend of spiritual life and public concern.

The church's local roots include weekly prayer meetings hosted by Narcissa before Soquel had a church and a Sunday School begun by schoolteacher Lulu Hall in a one-room schoolhouse in 1868. Current outreach includes partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank and hosting recovery groups for mutual support and education. Children and youth participate through worship, learning, service, friendship, and discussion of faith rather than an isolated entertainment program. Prospective visitors can watch online, attend the fixed 10 a.m. service, and then explore service or fellowship based on their interests. Before a family visit or themed ecology Sunday, review that week's calendar to see which youth elements and guest contributions are planned.
