St. Polycarp Catholic Church

About this church

St. Polycarp Catholic Church in Stanton serves English-, Spanish-, and Vietnamese-speaking Catholics. Saturday Mass begins at 8:30 a.m., 5 p.m. in English, and 7 p.m. in Vietnamese. Sunday choices are 7:30 and 11 a.m. in English, 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 6 p.m. in Spanish, and 4 p.m. in Vietnamese. Weekday English Mass is offered Monday through Friday at 6:30 and 8:30 a.m., with Spanish Mass Monday at 6:30 p.m. and Vietnamese Mass Friday at 6:30 p.m. Published confession hours are 7:15 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. Friday, and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The parish began as a small mission in a converted barn among Stanton strawberry fields during the 1920s. A mission school opened on the current Chapman Avenue campus in 1959, the parish was formally founded in 1961, and the church building opened in 1962. Youth ministry reflects the parish's cultural breadth. Living Out Loud brings teens into prayer, Scripture, service, and friendship across differences; the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement has met locally since 1994 and gathers during the school year before Saturday Vietnamese Mass. Visitors should check holiday notices because this extensive multilingual calendar is sometimes consolidated for civil or Holy Days.
