Church of the Assumption

About this church

Church of the Assumption is the historic North Cliff Street worship site of Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Ansonia. The present church took eighteen years to build and was dedicated in 1907; its design came from noted church architect Patrick Charles Keely. The parish now brings Assumption and Holy Rosary communities under one official website, so visitors must pay attention to which church a Mass or ministry listing names.

The current Assumption calendar shows Sunday Mass at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. The combined Mass page lists a Saturday 4:00 p.m. vigil from October through March and confession Saturday at 3:00, but its accessible layout intermixes Assumption and Holy Rosary schedules; outside that season, visitors should confirm the vigil location and time directly. Weekday calendar entries include 8:00 a.m. Mass, with a 9:10 school-day Mass appearing on Tuesdays. First Friday devotion begins with Adoration after the 8:00 Mass and continues until an evening Healing Mass; exact dated hours are published on the event calendar. Valley Catholic Youth uses The Loft in the Assumption School athletic center unless an event says otherwise. This profile therefore anchors on the clearly dated Sunday hours and avoids assigning the other parish church’s noon Mass to Assumption.
