Christ the King Lutheran Church

About this church

Christ the King Lutheran Church has served Newtown and surrounding Connecticut communities since 1961. The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod congregation holds Sunday Divine Services at 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.; the morning service is also livestreamed. Adult Bible study follows at 10:45, both onsite and online. Christ the King describes its life around God's Word and Sacraments, including Baptism, confession and absolution, and Communion, so visitors should expect a recognizably confessional Lutheran service rather than a generic contemporary gathering. The afternoon service provides a second scheduling option.

Service handouts and video archives let newcomers follow the liturgy or hear recent preaching before attending. Children's Sunday School and youth Bible study meet after the morning service, with a coffee-and-snack fellowship between worship and study. The congregation also collects groceries for Faith Food Pantry, clothing and textiles through an onsite donation shed, and baby supplies for local mothers. Its visitor profile is therefore unusually complete: two Sunday worship choices, a streamed morning option, education immediately afterward, and visible community-service projects. Guests with questions about receiving Communion are specifically encouraged to contact the church before their visit.
