Emmanuel Mennonite Church

About this church

Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Gainesville is a congregation of Mennonite Church USA that meets at the Mennonite Meeting House on NW 18th Avenue. Worship takes place Sundays at 11 a.m. and includes congregational singing with instruments, a time set aside for children, a sermon, and intercessory prayer, with communion observed monthly. A Zoom option is offered for those who cannot attend in person. The church describes its faith as following Jesus together and putting it into practice through justice, peace, and care for creation.

Much of its outreach runs through the Beltram Peace Center, which hosts speakers, discussion groups, and programs on topics such as dismantling racism and interfaith engagement. An English program for people of many nationalities meets on Saturday afternoons at the center. Other ministries include a women's group, a music team that leads Sunday worship, a library, and an art gallery where local residents can show their work. Members also serve meals at the St. Francis House shelter and collect food for the Bread of the Mighty food pantry, and the building offers meeting space to community groups. Parking is available on site, and sermons are posted online; confirm the current schedule on the website before visiting.
