First Presbyterian Church

About this church

First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville worships at 10:30 a.m. Sundays in person and on Facebook Live. Sunday School and small-group discipleship opportunities meet before and after worship, while Children's Church and nursery care are based in the Children's Center. The congregation is currently searching for a new head pastor, so guest speakers are bringing the Sunday message during the transition.

Visitors are welcomed without being singled out or pressured, including people who have never attended church before. Founded in 1840, First Presbyterian has a long downtown Jacksonville history and connects worship with care for its city. Mission partners include the Sulzbacher Center, where volunteers prepare and serve a monthly meal for unhoused neighbors, along with prison ministry, ecumenical service, youth outreach, disaster and international mission, and Christmas gift projects. First-time families should arrive before 10:30 to locate the Children's Center; anyone wanting a class should confirm whether the current option meets before or after worship while the pastoral transition continues.
