First Baptist Church of Key Largo

About this church

First Baptist Church of Key Largo meets at mile marker 99 on the oceanside of the Overseas Highway, holding its worship service Sundays at 9 a.m. The service is blended, pairing contemporary worship songs with traditional hymns in fresh arrangements, all led by a worship band, and it moves into a practical, Bible-based sermon aimed at everyday life. This Baptist congregation grew out of a small prayer and Bible study group that began meeting at the Key Largo Civic Club in 1955, and it has been on its current property since the late 1950s.

Children have their own worship time during the service, with games, singing, crafts and Bible lessons geared to their age; families are encouraged to arrive a little early to get children registered. On Wednesdays, a Samaritan Supper is served at 5 p.m., followed by prayer and Bible study at 6 p.m. Dress is casual, and shorts, tropical prints and flip-flops are common alongside dresses and jeans. Drivers heading north on US 1 will see the church on the right at mile marker 99, with the parking lot entrance just before the church sign; drivers heading south turn left at the first street past the marker and cross the northbound lanes. Sunday services are streamed live, and past sermons are posted as videos and podcasts. Times may change, so confirm them on the website before visiting.
