The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Marathon

About this church

Marathon, Florida has one meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 6700 Overseas Hwy. The nearest other building is a substantial 44.8 miles away, down in Key West, and this one is wheelchair accessible at the entrance, in the parking lot, and for restrooms and seating.

The Marathon Branch holds sacrament meeting at 10 a.m., part of a two-hour block running until 12 p.m.. The opening hour includes hymns, a prayer, the sacrament of bread and water, and talks from those in the branch, and the second hour turns to classes, with Primary offered to children. There's no cost involved, and no one collects money from guests. A chapel, a couple of classrooms, and a small cultural hall are typical of buildings this size. Since meeting times are set locally and can shift from year to year, it's sensible to call ahead before a first Sunday visit, given how remote the next building is.
