First United Methodist Church of Port Orange

About this church

First United Methodist Church of Port Orange is a community seeking to love God, love one another, and express that love to all people. Its two ordinary Sunday services differ primarily in music: the traditional hour features hymns, choir anthems, and occasional handbells or ensembles, while contemporary worship uses a praise band with guitars, drums, piano, and vocalists. Children’s programs span both services and the education interval.

Traditional worship begins Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and contemporary worship at 11:00. On fifth Sundays, the church replaces those with one blended 10:00 service. Coffee, cookies, pastries, and fellowship are available at 10:00 in Hanstine Fellowship Hall on a normal two-service Sunday. Nursery care for infants through preschool is offered at 9:00 and 11:00 and during Sunday School. Kids Church for kindergarten through fifth grade meets at both worship hours, while Sunday School begins at 10:15. On Communion Sundays, elementary children return to the main service with their families. The fifth-Sunday exception matters for visitors, who should check the calendar before arriving for either usual hour.
