Grace United Methodist Church

About this church

Grace United Methodist Church offers contemporary worship Sundays at 9 a.m. and traditional worship at 11 in its 1880s building in downtown St. Augustine. During June and July, the congregation combines into one 10 a.m. service, so summer visitors should follow the seasonal schedule. Grace understands worship, spiritual formation, baptism, Holy Communion, service, and social justice as connected expressions of United Methodist faith. It explicitly welcomes people across age, economic circumstances, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, mental or physical health, and background into worship, membership, and leadership.

Children begin each service beside their families, then teachers escort them to small-group Bible study and return them to their parents afterward. Teachers complete training and background screening. Between the regular services, Unto Others meets from about 10:15 to 10:50 a.m. and helps children practice the Golden Rule through projects for cold-weather shelters, firefighters, military members, and homebound parishioners. Local missions likewise address hunger, family support, and neighbors' practical needs through community partners. Small groups and youth ministry create further places for formation and relationship. Grace describes its aim as becoming a beloved community where people do justice, love mercy, walk humbly, nurture equity, and extend compassion. The public pages do not detail service length, music beyond the two formats, Communion frequency or invitation, parking, step-free entry, hearing assistance, nursery care, or child check-in and secure pickup.
