Bethel Baptist Church

About this church

Bethel Baptist Church in Chickamauga lists Sunday morning Bible study and fellowship at 9:45 a.m., followed by worship from 11:00 to about 12:05. Wednesday Bible study and prayer meets from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a covered-dish supper on the designated monthly Wednesday. Because the church calendar notes that Sunday School may occasionally be suspended, visitors planning around the 9:45 hour should check the dated service listing. Worship is traditional and includes prayer, singing, and expository preaching centered on the biblical text; a nursery is available when needed.

Bethel describes itself as a Southern Baptist congregation made up of people with different backgrounds and stories, united in worship and a mission to serve the community through Christ's love. Its history reaches to 1854, despite a typographical date elsewhere on the history page; the church built at a new location in 1897, lost that frame building to fire in 1958, and replaced it with the brick sanctuary still in use. Fellowship includes dinners, cookouts, study, and local and wider ministry, while livestreams and an online sermon archive extend worship beyond the building. That blend of longstanding Chickamauga history and clearly traditional service expectations gives visitors a specific picture before arriving.
