Oakwood Baptist Church

About this church

For every age, Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. at Oakwood Baptist Church, with worship at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday Bible study at 7 at 4263 Martin Road in Flowery Branch. The independent Baptist congregation uses traditional music, including hymns, an adult choir, quartets, trios, and soloists. Dress ranges from casual to formal, and the building provides accessible parking, wheelchair-friendly entry, ushers for assistance, and a staffed nursery for infants and toddlers.

Summit:Kids serves age three through sixth grade through object lessons, Scripture, songs, games, and memory work. Volunteers are screened and safety-trained; listed gatherings include Sunday programming and Summit:Kids Klub at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Students in grades seven through twelve have Sunday School at 9:30. Oakwood also highlights Gainesville Baptist Mission, a long-term transitional facility where men experiencing homelessness can stay for up to a year while rebuilding stability. The congregation began with thirty-two people in a home on Father’s Day 2001, moved to Martin Elementary School, and later built across the street on ten acres. A visitor can arrive for 9:30 classes or come directly to morning worship. Families should verify the current Summit:Kids Sunday time because separate ministry and visitor pages show slightly different hour labels, while accessibility needs can be raised with an usher at the main entrance.
