About this church
Christ Our Hope Lutheran Church in Riverdale worships Sundays at 10 a.m. The ELCA congregation follows a traditional Lutheran pattern, including sung responses, while blending styles drawn from its diverse community. Music ranges from traditional hymns to gospel and praise, with liturgical and gospel choirs leading on different Sundays. Guests may wear jeans, pants, dresses, or suits. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays and at a Wednesday evening service; the church explicitly welcomes all to receive regardless of denomination or current church involvement.
Children are encouraged to remain with their families, a children’s sermon is a regular part of worship, and a nursery is available if needed. The congregation describes itself as racially diverse, with members from Lutheran and non-Lutheran backgrounds, children, youth, and active retirees. Community work has included agency support, soup-kitchen service, assistance to families, refugee resettlement, and a Habitat for Humanity build. On-site parking is available from the Albania Street entrance. The official site does not publish the current Wednesday Communion time, nursery ages or check-in and screening procedures, accessibility or hearing details, livestream information, or an updated recurring schedule for Bible studies and youth activities, so those items should be confirmed directly.
