First Christian Church of Sandersville

About this church

First Christian Church of Sandersville is a Disciples of Christ congregation meeting at 166 E. Church Street in Sandersville. Sunday School classes begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the worship service at 10:30 a.m.; confirm times on the church website before visiting. The congregation shares communion every week, and its stated beliefs center on Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the Bible as the inspired Word of God. Visitors will see a range of attire, from jeans to more formal Sunday clothes, and the church notes that both men and women are called to serve in its ministry.

During the 9:30 a.m. hour, children from pre-K through sixth grade meet for Bible lessons and music, youth in grades seven through twelve gather for their own class, and nursery care is offered for infants and toddlers; childcare continues until the end of the worship service. Children also attend Vacation Bible School and regional camps, while the youth group plans trips, retreats and service projects. Disciples Women meets monthly with a focus on community service, and a men's fellowship centers on church projects and local service. The church joins other congregations in several outreach efforts, including the Bread of Life meal and grocery program, a food pantry at the Christian Life Center, and a mission store offering low-cost clothing and household goods. Sermons are posted on YouTube.
