About this church

Encounter Church gathers Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at 243 Collier Road in Toccoa. Nursery and children’s ministry are available during regular services for ages six weeks through fifth grade. The Assemblies of God congregation organizes its mission around meeting God, finding community, discovering purpose, and living on mission.

The church opened as Glad Tidings Assembly of God in 1974, built its current 700-seat sanctuary in 1989, and adopted the Encounter name in 2018. Middle-school students begin Sunday in the main sanctuary and leave after the meet-and-greet for their own teaching; high-school students remain with adults or serve on ministry teams. Wednesday groups include adult small groups, student ministry, Royal Rangers, and MPact Girls. That age-specific structure gives families clear expectations before arriving. The 10:30 service is the broadest introduction, while Wednesday provides smaller group pathways. Parents should allow time for nursery or children’s check-in and verify the current ministry calendar, particularly when a student group or seasonal small-group cycle matters.
