About this church
Sunday offers in-person services at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at Light of Christ Church, 1700 Longmeadow Parkway in Algonquin, with the earlier gathering streamed online. Both hours include corporate singing, weekly Communion, nursery care for children age one and older, and children's ministry for preschool through fifth grade. Bread and wine or juice are offered at the altar, with gluten-free and individually packaged options available; anyone looking to Jesus for forgiveness or guidance is invited to the table.
Preschool children explore Bible stories through crafts, play, and relationships, while elementary students begin with energetic worship and Bible adventures before grade-based small groups. Junior-high students in grades six through eight meet on Wednesday evenings from August through May for PATH confirmation, large-group teaching, discussion, and prayer. Older students can join mission experiences, service partnerships, retreats, and a summer theater program that builds a full musical production. The congregation's mission is to invite people into Christian community, help them grow through Scripture and sacrament, and connect individual gifts with meaningful service. Its membership reflects several ages and ethnicities from Algonquin and nearby towns. Families can choose either in-person hour without losing children's programming, while the 9 a.m. stream offers the clearest preview of worship and weekly Communion before a first visit.
