Calvary Baptist Church

About this church

Calvary Baptist Church meets at 3000 Washington Avenue in Granite City. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by worship at 10:45. The service lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes, blending traditional and contemporary music, praise, giving, and a message from Scripture. On Wednesdays, a prayer gathering begins at 6:30 p.m. in the downstairs Fellowship Hall and Bible study follows at 7:00, often with a dessert or other shared treat.

The congregation frames its vision around loving God, loving people, knowing Christ, and making Christ known. Its belief statement emphasizes the Bible as trustworthy and authoritative, salvation through Jesus, and the Holy Spirit’s work in worship, evangelism, and service. Men’s and women’s ministries combine meals and devotion with monthly outreach collections for needs such as cancer-care bags, pregnancy-center supplies, and food banks. Free public church-wide events, fellowship lunches, and an ongoing Operation Christmas Child collection add social and service-oriented entry points beyond Sunday. Someone planning a first visit can expect a clear two-stage morning—education first, then a seventy-five-minute worship gathering—and can contact the church for guidance if exploring faith or seeking a congregation rather than arriving with prior Baptist experience.
