First United Methodist Church

About this church

First United Methodist Church in Kewanee offers a Saturday chapel service at 5:30 p.m. and traditional Sunday worship at 9:00 a.m. The Saturday gathering is intentionally informal: the pastor leads and celebrates Communion on the first Saturday of the month, while lay speakers lead on other weeks. Sunday worship takes place in the sanctuary and follows a more traditional pattern that includes the Psalter and hymns. The church provides a way to watch Sunday worship online for those who cannot attend in person.

These two services give visitors meaningfully different options rather than simply repeating the same gathering at two times. The chapel setting may suit someone seeking a smaller, less formal experience, while the Sunday service retains familiar United Methodist elements and music. The congregation also maintains youth and event information through its website, extending its public life beyond the weekend schedule. For people exploring Methodist churches in Kewanee, the published role of lay leadership is particularly informative: worship is not presented as the work of clergy alone. Guests should check the current calendar before attending special events, but the regular Saturday and Sunday times provide a clear starting point.
