About this church

St. Raphael Catholic Church is a large Naperville parish serving 4,200 registered families through Mass, sacraments, Catholic education, and over 100 ministries. Mass is celebrated Monday through Saturday at 8:45 a.m.; the Saturday vigil is at 5 p.m.; and Sunday Masses are at 8 and 10 a.m. and noon. Eucharistic Adoration follows Thursday morning Mass until 7 p.m. Reconciliation is offered Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday after morning Mass, except the published Holy Week exclusions. Music is led by congregation and choirs, including three children's choirs, and an assisted-listening system is available.

The parish began as a mission school in 1961, became a parish in 1963 with 400 families, and celebrated its first Mass in the present church in December 1992. St. Raphael School, youth and adult faith formation, sacramental preparation, and REACH programming for children with intellectual, physical, and developmental disabilities support family formation. Volunteers working with minors complete child-protection training, an application, background checks, and behavior standards. Service ministries support Hesed House, transitional housing, St. Vincent de Paul assistance, and Loaves & Fishes, which began in a St. Raphael closet in 1984 and now operates independently. Newcomers exploring Catholicism can use the parish's OCIA information; the current bulletin should be checked for holy days and schedule changes.
