About this church
Northbrook Covenant Church begins Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m. The service lasts about an hour and blends traditional hymns with contemporary music; projected lyrics help visitors participate, followed by announcements, congregational prayer, preaching, and coffee fellowship. Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month and is open to anyone who professes faith in Jesus. Children may stay in the service, use a play area or break room with a video feed, or join Sunday School about halfway through. Preschool through fifth-grade classes are led by two background-checked adults, and children return to the sanctuary for Communion when it is offered.
The congregation was planted in 1963 and formally joined the Evangelical Covenant Church the following year, seeking to combine Christian discipleship with service to Northbrook. Its music ministry includes a volunteer Sunday worship team and a four-part choir for Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, and other special occasions. Children are treated as current participants in the church rather than only its future, and family ministry includes shared worship, prayer activities, and service. Youth opportunities add local outreach, community events, fellowship, summer camp, and weekend retreats with Covenant partners. The church's mission emphasizes knowing God, caring for one another, and making God's love visible to neighbors.
