Peace Memorial Church

About this church

Peace Memorial Church holds worship at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday throughout the year in Palos Park. Services follow a fairly traditional pattern with congregational singing, pastoral and communal prayer, special music, Scripture, and a message, while also incorporating some contemporary songs. General parking is north of the main building, and accessible spaces are east of the building near the grassy field. The congregation belongs to the United Church of Christ and worships on a 50-acre campus.

Peace traces its history to 1886 and emphasizes Christian education, spiritual growth, and outreach. Children in sixth grade and younger begin Sunday in the sanctuary for A Time for the Child in All of Us, then move to the Peace Lounge for Sunday School during the 9:30 service. The church founded Peace Village, a nonprofit continuing-care retirement community, and maintains relationships with its residents. Other mission work includes school-supply collections for area districts, local service projects, and partnerships supporting communities near and far. A first-time visitor can expect traditional worship with occasional newer music; families should arrive before 9:30 to understand the children's transition, while drivers needing an accessible space should approach the east side rather than the main north lot.
