Cross Lutheran Church

About this church

Cross Lutheran Church is a Yorkville congregation and school at 8609 Route 47. Its regular Sunday schedule offers traditional worship at 8 a.m. and contemporary services at 9:30 and 11; summer combines the contemporary gatherings at 10 while retaining the 8 a.m. service. All services are livestreamed. Worship lasts about 60 to 70 minutes and includes song, prayer, a sermon, and Communion on the first, third, and fifth Sundays. Dress ranges from suits to T-shirts and shorts. Cross summarizes discipleship as walking with God, growing in faith together, and loving neighbors, with an explicit welcome across backgrounds, cultures, and identities.

During the school year, Cross Kids welcomes toilet-trained preschoolers through fourth grade at the 9:30 service, pairing Bible stories with music, games, discussion, and tools parents can use at home. Nursery care is offered during the 9:30 and 11 a.m. gatherings, while older students have Sunday study. Wednesday children's ministry runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. after a 6 p.m. meal; each second Wednesday becomes an intergenerational All IN worship night. These programs pause or change in summer and around holidays, making the seasonal schedule important for families planning a first visit.
