Bedford First United Methodist Church

About this church

Bedford First United Methodist Church is a downtown congregation organized in 1826 by forty members. Its present stone church was built in 1899 and later expanded and renovated as ministry grew. Worship, prayer, learning, service, Next Generation ministry, local assistance, disaster-relief work, and intergenerational mentoring express a church where ministry matters and creative outreach is encouraged.

Sunday worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Youth in grades six through twelve meets most Fridays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for faith, fellowship, leadership, and activities, while children, teens, and adults also participate together in music, liturgy, service, and mentoring. Mission partners include local food and shelter programs plus United Methodist disaster-relief work. The church’s own site identifies the location as 1409 K Street across from the library in Bedford; the corrected address expands the directory’s shortened street-only record. The selected pages do not publish a dependable Sunday nursery or children’s-class schedule, so families should contact the church before assuming parallel care. Visitors can plan around the single 10:30 service and explore the history page for context on nearly two centuries of Bedford Methodism.
