Central United Methodist Church

About this church

Central United Methodist Church is an Evansville congregation built around traditional worship, Christian education, children and youth, music, adults, mission, and a long local history. Its Sunday service uses responsive readings, hymns, organ and piano, weekly Chancel Choir music, and frequent Bell Choir leadership. Online services provide a preview for visitors, while classes after worship create a natural transition from the sanctuary into smaller learning communities.

Traditional worship begins Sunday at 9:15 a.m. in the sanctuary and online and lasts about an hour. Sunday School follows at 10:30 for adults, preschoolers, elementary children, and youth. Nursery care is provided during both worship and Sunday School. Kindergarten through fifth grade learn together with music, video, crafts, stories, and hands-on activities; preschoolers meet in the nursery room. A children’s-church page describes kindergarten through second grade leaving after the Children’s Moment, but labels that program temporarily suspended, so families should not assume it is active. Youth Sunday School begins at 10:30, and Sunday youth group meets from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Seasonal art, knitting, music, and community events use their own dates. First-time guests can choose in-person or online worship and remain for classes, but should contact the church if they need current children’s-church details, accessibility information, or a precise nursery age range.
