Heartland Church of Christ

About this church

Heartland Church of Christ in Greenwood begins Sunday Bible-study classes at 9:00 a.m. and worship at 10:00. Both gatherings are open onsite, and worship is livestreamed for people who cannot attend in person. A first-time visitor should expect a cappella congregational singing rather than an instrumental praise band. Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is observed every Sunday, with each person free to decide whether to participate.

Worship leadership is shared among men in the congregation, while women and children participate in singing, Scripture, and prayer. An offering is collected to support local ministry and missions, but the church explicitly tells guests that they are welcome and are not expected to donate. Heartland describes itself as a committed group of Christians guided by the Bible, daily prayer and study, love of God, and Jesus’ call to share his message locally and internationally. Its calendar includes a monthly Band of Brothers men’s dinner and Bible study alongside Sunday gatherings. The church is at 1693 West Main Street. Visitors unfamiliar with Churches of Christ will find the official newcomer page especially useful because it explains the service’s practices and the reasons behind them.
