First Baptist Church of Hammond

About this church

First Baptist Church of Hammond holds Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., followed by separate worship services at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m.; both services have their own music and preaching and are available in person or online. Adult Sunday School creates smaller settings organized around life stages, with coffee and practical Bible lessons. Worship features conservative music and direct Bible teaching. On Wednesdays, Transformers Kids' Club, a discipleship class, and midweek Bible study begin at 7 p.m. The downtown main entrance is beneath the large steeple at 473 Sibley Street. Visitor parking and a three-story garage are directly across the street.

Children's check-in begins at the Welcome Center in the Main Auditorium Building, and the church recommends arriving 20 minutes early. Sunday School for elementary students starts at 9:45, followed by age-specific children's churches at 10:45. Nurseries serve infants through age three during every public service with developmentally appropriate toys, pagers, and background-checked, trained workers; first-time families complete an information card and emergency-treatment form. Wednesday children's and teen choirs rehearse at 6:15 p.m. The congregation began with 12 members in 1887 and now supports schools, church planting, mission teams, addiction and poverty outreach, a thrift store, bookstore, and radio station. Official pages do not specify accessible parking or entrances, assistive listening, Communion practice, service length, or visitor attire.
