St. Joseph Catholic Church

About this church

St. Joseph Catholic Church celebrates Sunday Mass at 9:30 a.m. in DeWitt and streams Mass live, with recent liturgies also available on YouTube. Family Masses during the school year use the same Sunday hour and invite younger students to serve as cantors, instrumentalists, or pianists. Visitors can dress comfortably within the parish's request for respectful clothing, and parking is available around the church. Worship aids in the pews explain the order, responses, prayers, and postures, while ushers can provide another copy when needed.

The church's newcomer guidance is unusually clear about the Eucharist. Because Catholics understand Communion as the real presence of Christ, non-Catholic guests are asked not to receive; they may instead come forward with arms crossed for a blessing. Visitors are not expected to place money in the offering. Religious education serves families during the school year, beginning with a family night and continuing through age-based formation. Music schedules are published months ahead because livestream licensing requires advance planning, making the music page useful to both participants and regular worshipers. A first-time guest can watch the livestream archive, arrive for the 9:30 Mass, use the worship aid, and ask an usher when uncertain about the liturgy.
